Pictures drawn by jailed journalist Zehra Doğan were exhibited in Geneva. Amnesty International Geneva Representative Emily Baud made a speech during the opening ceremony of the exhibition and she said that human rights defenders and journalists are jailed in Turkey by a dictatorial regime.
The pictures drawn by jailed journalist Zehra Doğan on newspaper pages in prison were exhibited in Geneva, Switzerland. The exhibition, which will remain open in Alhambra until December 10, Human Rights Week, is organized by Amnesty International. Geneva Mayor Remy Pagani, Sur Municipality former Co-mayor Fatma Şık and Amnesty International Geneva Representative Emily Baud attended the exhibition.
Geneva Mayor Remy Pagani talked about what they had seen during his visit to Diyarbakir in the opening ceremony and he pointed out that the situation of human rights in Turkey is a highly worrisome and said that the solidarity with jailed journalists in this process is particularly important. Kedistan reporter Rosida Koyuncu talked about what had happened in Cizre, Nusaybin and Sur and Rosida said the people had been burned to death in these towns and journalists who had witnessed what had happened there were jailed or killed.
Amnesty International Geneva Representative Emily Baud said that talking about a democracy in Turkey is impossible it is no longer possible to talk about a democracy in Turkey and that many of the human rights defenders, journalists, opponents and their members are jailed in Turkey. “Now there is a dictatorship in Turkey,” said Emily and she recalled that they have launched a new campaign against the attack on journalists and human rights defenders and she called on everyone to support the campaign.
